To ensure the best formulation, remove your cartridges for shaking.

- Access the cartridges by removing the back access panel.
- Remove all 6 cartridges and set them in an upright position.
- Cover each orifice with saved caps or a cotton pad.
* Do NOT shake uncovered, as raw pigment may dislodge and stain skin or surfaces. - Shake all 6 vigorously.
- Next, remove caps and reinsert cartridges to their matching colored cartridge holder. Maintenance is done when all cartridges have been reinserted.
A few important notes regarding cartridge levels and dispensing:
• The Base cartridge will always be used the most, as it makes up the majority of every formula.
• If the app shows “low,” that is simply a reminder to reorder — the device is designed to use every last drop before prompting you to replace it.
• When inserting a new cartridge, be sure to twist firmly with slight pressure until it clicks and punctures fully. If it’s not fully punctured, it may not dispense properly.
Please keep in mind that the BoldHue App automatically tracks cartridge usage and will alert you when you’re running low so you know exactly when to reorder. It’s important to only replace cartridges in the device when the app directs you to do so, as replacing them early can impact tracking accuracy. The system is designed to reduce waste and ensure the device uses every last possible drop before prompting for a replacement.
Even if your app shows the Base cartridge as low, this is simply a reminder to reorder — not to replace it immediately. For example, if your match requires 50 units and only 40 remain, the device will use those 40, prompt you to insert the new cartridge, and then dispense the remaining 10. This ensures you get the maximum use out of every cartridge.
