To get the best performance from your BoldHue device, please follow these essential setup steps:

Charge Your Device for 24 Hours < click link to learn more
- Use the provided USB cord
- Keep the device turned ON during the entire charging period
- Ensure the wand is inserted and seated correctly inside the device while charging

Download the BoldHue App < click link to learn more
- Available on the App Store or Google Play (for United States residents only)
- Make sure you’re using the latest version (1.9.6)

Connect Your Device < click link to learn more
- Open the BoldHue App and follow the prompts to pair via Bluetooth
- Be sure Bluetooth and Location Services are enabled on your phone
- Allow necessary permissions for the BoldHue App to function properly
- Please note that BoldHue is currently only available and designed to work within the United States (learn more about international restrictions on our Shipping Policy)

Check for Firmware Updates < click link to learn more
- If prompted in the BoldHue App, complete the firmware update
- After the update is complete, the screen on your BoldHue device will automatically turn off
- Next, hold the power button (middle button on your BoldHue device) until the BoldHue device screen turns back on (takes at least 30 seconds)
- Reconnect to your BoldHue device via the BoldHue App and proceed to Scan & Make

Inserting your Cartridges < click link to learn more
- Vigorously shake each cartridge to mix up the pigment inside
- Remove the back access panel of the BoldHue device.
- One at a time, gently pull each corresponding holder outwards so it is at a 45˚ angle, for easy cartridge insertion.
- You'll want to be sure you twist & puncture each cartridge into it's corresponding holder. Imagine, just like how you put on your vehicles gas cap. Remove the cartridge cap and save for later maintenance. The grooves on the cartridge should align with the grooves on the cartridge holder. Don't use too much force as you do not want to damage the cartridge orifice or holder.
- Gently push each of the cartridges/holders back into the device. All cartridges should be snug and at the same height.
- If cartridges are not fully inserted correctly, your perfect match foundation may not dispense correctly or the jar may be empty after the dispense. Learn more here.
- Put the access panel back onto the device.

Please keep in mind that the BoldHue App automatically tracks cartridge usage and will alert you when you’re running low so you know exactly when to reorder. It’s important to only replace cartridges in the device when the BoldHue App directs you to do so. Learn more here.

Scan in Good Lighting < click link to learn more
- Use natural light or warm indoor lighting
- Avoid fluorescent or dim lighting for the most accurate skin tone scan

Try a Practice Scan < click link to learn more
- Use your hand as a test area to get familiar with the scanning motion (wand placement, lighting, vibration, timing, etc.)
- Once comfortable, proceed with scanning your face in three places (forehead, chin, neck)
💡 Pro Tip: Always make sure cartridges are firmly inserted and shaken before use for optimal pigment blending.
